Until 1972, when the modern athletic shoe was invented, people ran in very thin-soled shoes, had strong feet and had a much lower incidence of knee injuries.
Turns out they are. Basically the whole philosophy is that modern fancy trainers encourage you to land on your heel while running, while that would be quite painful if we were barefoot or wore very thin shoes, so we then land (properly) on the front of our foot and use our calf muscles to jump forward.

I must admit, I find it surprising that people don’t listen to music albums as a whole. I extremely rarely (and even rarer as time goes by) listen to specific songs, or make compilations.
+1 for Springsteen’s “Nebraska” on the list though, that’s definitely one of my favorite albums ever.
